What makes From The Heart different from other dog trainers?

Honestly? We care less about a dog that obeys and more about an owner who understands. Behavior never happens in a vacuum, so we look at the whole dog through five pillars — Fulfillment, Structure, Communication, Confidence, and Relationship. The goal was never a dog that just performs commands. It's the two of you, finally on the same page, for life.

Where do I start?

For most people, the best first step is the From The Heart Community — get a feel for how we think before you commit to anything. From there, a private Behavior & Training Consultation lets us meet your dog and start building a plan around them. The Get Started page walks you through the whole path.

What areas do you serve?

We work in person all over Metro Detroit — Royal Oak, Birmingham, Troy, and the surrounding areas. And because so much of what we do is education and coaching, our Community and online content are there for dog owners anywhere.

Do you require vaccinations?

Accepted Answer

Yes — and this one's non-negotiable. Keeping every dog and every person safe matters more than convenience, so vaccinations need to be current, and we'll need to see proof before your dog joins us.

How does Structured Daycare work?

Structured Daycare is trainer-led and behavior-focused — your dog comes to practice, not to be parked for the day. Everyone starts with a Private Lesson and a Daycare Evaluation ($75), then begins as a "Black Dog" ($50/day) with one-on-one support before graduating to "Pink Dog" status ($40/day). Dogs over a year old need to be spayed or neutered to attend.

Do you offer boarding?

We still board for a handful of longtime clients, but it's not really our focus anymore. What we care about now is education, coaching, training, and community — helping you and your dog grow for the long term, not just covering a weekend away.
